Ms. Anne the breakfast hostess supervisor gave us superb service, perhaps she should be given positions of greater responsibility to enhance the Hilton's capacity to give good service.
We wanted to sign up for the Hilton Honors program, but we were told that since we were there on a discount fare we couldn't - funny way to run a customer loyalty program. |

One word summarises the Malibu Garden Resort on Koh Samed - disappointing. The chalet bungalow we stayed in was dismal, worn and tired. The furniture was in a sorrowful state - missing handles and surfaces peeling away from the bedside cabinets, wardrobe doors old and unable to close properly, old carpets, old blankets on the bed and dingy room decoration. The bathroom area was gloomy - not well lit and old wall and floor tiles. The water from the shower was very slow to drain - not very hygenic. Breakfast was disappointing and served in what appeared to be more like a school canteen of yesteryear than a dining room. Because there was not enough guests to warrant a buffet breakfast on two days of our stay, we were given the choice of bland set meals which did not include either a continental or vegetarian option.The mini-market was expensive compared with neighbouring resorts. I simply cannot think of any positive points to say about the Malibu Garden Resort except its location which was on a good beach with a regular boat service.
The Malibu Garden Resort represents poor value for money. There were some impressive bungalows recently built further along the beach with vacancies whilst we were there - beautiful bright and modern units offered at a midweek rate much less than we had paid for our bungalow chalet at the Malibu Garden Resort. There was also a new development on the neighbouring Ao Cho beach - again beautifully presented - this time only slightly more expensive than the Malibu Resort but offering great value for money.
I really would not recommend anyone to stay at the Malibu Garden Resort until the accommodation is fully refurbished and would suggest that agencies such as Asia Discovery discontinue referring clients to it and visit the island to include the new developments in their portfolios. |

Ms Thip was very helpful - she answered my original e-mail enquiry both promptly and with all the information I needed, and when I visited the office in the Silom Complex in Bangkok she was very helpful and efficient in making the last-minute booking for me.
