If you want to visit Ko Samet, not stay at Samet Ville Resort! Every day at 5 PM I had to ask my room to be cleaned because they "forgot" to clean it. Breakfast (included) was very -poor: they had no milk and gave me only two slices of bread and a spoon of jam. My wife had stomach problem after eating eggs at last brekfast.
Electic wires and water tubes were drawn everywere. The room (a private cottage!) was small and the bathroom had a stong need of restoration.
Bad choise at all. |

It would have been extremely helpful to have been informed of the mode of transportation required to get to the Railay Bay Resort. When we arrived at the Krabi airport, it was the taxi information desk that informed us that we'd have to take a taxi and then a "ferry" -- we each had 6 enormous bags of luggages in addition to carry-ons (1-2 large backpacks each) as we had been traveling for one week in Vietnam prior to arriving in Krabi via Bangkok. Had we been informed to pack lightly / that a "ferry" meant a very small wooden long boat, we most certainly would have stored the majority of our luggage in the Bangkok Airport prior to connecting to Krabi. We had to pay overage fees for the weight of our luggage on Nok Airlines - again, this could have been avoided hasd we been informed of the limits upfront as well as the required transportation to the Railay Bay Hotel. I rated the easy access "poor" for this reason simply b/c it was a huge shock and inconvenience with the luggage and weight situation unknown upfront; otherwise, it would have been completely lovely with one small bag on hand. |

Ms. Nar was very polite and courteous and friendly in her emails. Kate Schrinsky dealt with Ms. Nar directly but I was always cc'd. It was simply the above mishap with the luggage/transportation from Bangkok to Krabi (we didn't know the weight limits of the airline and had to pay for upgrade and excess luggage weight when we checked in AND we didn't know we'd have such difficulty getting to Railay Bay on a small boat with all that luggage). Lastly, the ticketing procedure from Hanoi to Bangkok was strange and a travel agent was contacting us at the Hoabin Palace throughout the weekend needing information we already provided via email and was 20 minutes late the morning of our flight delivering our actual tickets to us, which caused a bit of angst. It seems the Thailand laws were the issue, but it seemed very unorganized and last minute and was a bit inconvenient. |
