I was a bit surprised the standard of the bathrooms considering how much they charge for rooms in the high season. I had planned to make a booking for some family friends coming over from the UK in December but changed my mind after staying in the hotel. It is a lovely hotel but they seemed to have cut corners on some areas while still expecting to charge a premium. I know they don't care because they think the place is the best. The Sheraton is much more value for money in this class. The service was also less than sincere and felt a bit rushed and pushed. I might stay there again but I would hesitate recommending it to others unless I pointed out they were paying a premium for nice settings and old style charm of the hotel... which there is plenty of all over Chiang Mai. |

The reception staff and cleaning staff were very professional. The restaurant and bar staff were on the other hand slow (when you want to order something;they sometimes looked away). We had one minor incident with the poolboy: he did not like his job and was one time very rude...my friend forgot to take off his slippers once and the poolboy pointed with his foot to my friends legs instead of politely asking to remove the slippers. I thought pointing with the feet is considered very rude in Thailand?
In general the stay was very pleasant. I just have one general remark for Thailands tourism industry: I some places I stayed, like Koh-Phi Phi and Krabi, you can already see the negative effects of mass-tourism
1. Thai people who are not so friendly..(the reception staff of Banyan Villa Hotel in Koh-Phi Phi is EXTREMELY unfriendly)
2. Destruction of beautifull beaches...Maya Beach at Koh-Phi Phi Don is ugly and overcrowded with boats and tourists.
3. Earning money fast and without doing to much is becoming the norm in some places....
In general though, I think Thailand can offer one of the best vacations, but they need to be carefull with planning the development of tourism in some regions (like Koh-Phi Phi and Krabi)

The pool was faulty throughout most of our stay. On the last day of our holiday, the pool was moss green in colour. Many of the other guests were unhappy, but we didn't mind since the beach was just a walk away. Still, it would have been nice to have a pool to swim in.
The service from the staff was one of the best I've experienced in Phuket. The rooms, however, needed more improvement. The walls were thin and we had a room facing the main street so it was very noisy.
Breakfast was okay, but the best thing about the hotel was the location. Right in the heart of Patong beach, you're in the thick of the action. |

I had some problems accessing the payment weblink and had difficulty submitting my payment. The agent could have been more polite and understanding in dealing with my difficulty. But overall the service was prompt and efficient. It made the whole process smooth and pleasant. |
