It was quiet and the staff were friendly. The location is convenient. The room had a terrible tobacco odour. The condition of the pool was terrible. Many of the tiles were broken and had sharp edges. My friend cut herself on one broken tile. |

We were dissapointed that the hotel was unable to offer us a double bed at first, but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and after an hour or two they managed to find a suitable room for us.
However it was ovious that this room wasn't being used as a number of the facilities weren't working.
Still, they did try to help and as I say were very friendly.
By the way - our electronic keys needed re-programming EVERY day. It was VERY irritating to go to our room then have to go back to reception to get the keys to work.

For a hotel with as high a standard as the Banyan Tree group, we found that the rooms were very small (much smaller than they appear in the pictures) and that all in all the hotel is very much in need of a refurbishment. The chairs in the club lounge and the dining room were incredibly worn and we felt not up to the standard of what the hotel should have been. We also stayed at the Sofitel Silom and found that the foyer staff there were of a much higher standard than at the Banyan Tree. Overall we found the Banyan Tree very pleasant but not to the standard we had expected. I have stayed at Oberoi Hotels and was expecting this kind of level. It really seemed as though the Banyan Tree bought over an existing property and have yet to bring it up to their required standard. |
