Internet charge is a little expensive: 600bht ~ $15+ a day;
The food is not recommanded(hot dog swimming in hot water, very limited selection of fruit, heavly colored "orange juice", no milk, no sweets, no nothing. I survied with an order of sunny side up every morning), although the service are nice. |

My recent trip to Railay Bay was my second time there. I travelled throughout Thailand in the Spring of 2004 - before the Tsunami hit. I was absolutely devistated thinking about all the amazing Thai people I met that possibly lost their lives and knowing that some of the most beautiful places I have seen on earth destroyed. I couldn't get back to Thailand soon enough - even if it was just for a short visit.
One of the most beautiful and relaxing places I have visited is Railay Bay in Krabi Province. Because I had limited time for my recent vacation, I decided to head straight to Railay Bay and spend the entire time there. I stayed at the Railay Bay Resort and Spa the first time I travelled to Thailand and it definitely is the nicest hotel in Railay - except for the Rayavadee (which who can actually really afford?!). The Railay Bay Resort is simple, rustic (like the rest of Railay), friendly and quite affordable. The only downside I found with booking on-line rather than just showing up was that even though I booked the deluxe cottage 3 months in advance, they still shoved us in the very back of the resort (east end). Because they were quite full, they couldn't put us closer to the beach, pool etc. until half way though our vacation. Once you get settled, sometimes you don't want to move. So unfortunately all they had available was one of the Suite Cottages. Although it ended up costing us a ridiculous amount of money, the Suite Cottages are definitely well worth it. We were so close to the pool area and beach. Beautiful room, outdoor shower. Very convenient location. If you are paying for the suites however, make sure you request one that is set a little further back from the pool. Because it's such a small resort, the suites situated direclty looking over the pool are not very private at all. And there seems to be A LOT of families with kids there.
After Ko Phi Phi is rebuilt, I will definitely go back to Thailand, and I will definitely go back to Railay Bay. |

We really enjoyed Belle Villa. It's just outside of the main town of Pai, but only about a km or so, so there is easy access AND a free shuttle to take you there and back. But mostly, we went around on a rented scooter. The rooms are like cute huts with a 5 star interior. Very comfortable HUGE bed, DVD player, flat screen TV and external speakers. You can even hook up your Ipod or other MP3 player and listen to music on the stereo. The service was outstanding. One day we arrived late for breafast (the included breakfast was served until 9 or 10, I can't remember). But when we showed up at the restaurant, the staff was very kind and served us even though we arrived so late.
The management is great as well, the manager "ON" is a kind soul, very helpful and friendly. If you go to Pai, stay here. |

We really enjoyed our time at the Samed Cliff Resort. We liked that it was on the quieter side of the island and we didn't have to contend with all night partying as we have had to do on other islands in Southern Thailand. The service was excellent and accomodations were superb. I would stay there in a heart beat next time I go to Thailand. |
