Kamala Beach Hotel has a wonderful setting. Rooms and facilities are excellent; the general areas are well-furnished, but a bit forbidding. Internet service is a nice touch, as are the daily papers in the lobby. Buffet breakfasts are excellent, but we weren't impressed by the restaurant food in the evenings (maybe it's a bit 'Westernised' for our taste). Super pools and surrounding facilities, although we seldom used them since the sea was yards away. Like all other good hotels in Thailand, the levels of service and hospitality were not just good, but also warm. There do seem to be many price levels for the rooms however. We came back to the Kamala Beach after a week's sailing, and were not impressed by the higher room charges. Would go back again (after negotiating a good price), and would recommend it to others. |

The Tamarind Village is an absolute gem. The whole setting just puts you at ease the moment you step out of your noisy Tuk Tuk and into an oasis of calm. Planting, decor and architecture, all very sympatico. Nice extra touches include high class toiletries (so good we had to buy some when we left) , slippers, robes, and quality stationery in your room - which is large and very spacious. The (buffet) breakfasts are to die for, and we had first class Thai food when we ate there a couple of times in the evenings. Wine is expensive, but that seems to be the case everywhere in Thailand, and the wine selection was quite extensive. Staff at all levels are a delight. We will certainly book here again - and at any other location where this hotelier opens up - and would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the best of Thia hospitality. |

The Bangkok Riverside is a tired hotel - much in need of refurbishment. Rooms themselves are good standard (and well maintained by the chambermaids), bur general interior is poor; gloomy corridors, stained carpets. The pool is OK but the jacuzi hasn't worked for some time. The hotel staff are its best feature - like many Thai people we met, they are friendly, helpful and charming.
I think the restaurant must be run as a separate concession from the hotel itself: the (American) breakfast is terrible, and no alternatives are offered unless you pay separately.
We would not use the hotel again. |

The location of the hotel is excellent, enough far from the noise of downtown. A little bit lot of steps to go up to the hotel twice a day, but the Hotel's "TUK-TUK" gives you a lift free of charge from the main entence to the main lobby. The best solution is hiring a little motorbike on the first day (300 Bath/day) and you can keep it at the hotel's parking house. The hospitality of the crew is excellent. The only one disadvantage I can mention is, that they forget to order our pre booked limousin car to the airport. Finally the car arrived at the hotel with 30 minute late, we nearly missed our plane back to Europe. Overall rating is excellent. |
