Coral Island (Ko Lan)

About 7.5 km from Pattaya, there are 3 small islands well known for their white sand, colorful corals and other forms of undersea life, which can be viewed from glass-bottomed boats. Thousands of foreign tourists have visited these islands. The largest of them is Ko Lan, 7.5 km from Pattaya Beach. There are boat services operating between Pattaya Beach and Ko Lan several times a day. Each one-way trip takes about 45 minutes by ordinary ferry while the long-tail speedboats take around 15 minutes. Different types of accommodation are available on the island. The other two islets, Ko Sak and Ko Khrok are a short way from Ko Lan. They are smaller and quieter.

At Ko Lan, there are several watersports such as windsurfing, water skiing, snorkelling, and scuba diving. Viewing coral reefs through glass-bottom boats and parasailing are other popular activities. Island beaches are lined with souvenir stalls selling colorful beachwear and decorative handicrafts, foodstalls and restaurants.

 

Elephant Village

The elephant round-up at the Elephant Village is literally a large gathering of herds of elephants. These gigantic beasts have long been the backbone of heavy work in the jungles of Thailand. The thrilling event includes spectacular demonstrations of elephant capture; the daily life of elephants and their masters; elephants being trained, worked and fed; elephant riding and an ancient war, elephant dressed for your photograph.

A well known place for lovers of elephants and nature! The first of its kind and one of the very few places where elephants are kept in their natural environment.

Only 10 minutes away and easy to reach by taxi or bus. Come trek on an elephant, enjoy the nature on your walk through the jungle and show your reserve by crossing the lake on a raft. Enjoy exciting elephant show, the old-fashion ox-cart ride and a traditional lunch or dinner.

Possible activities includes 1 hr trekking on elephants back, 30 minutes jungle walk, 30 minutes rafting on the lake, a short ride on a ox-cart back to the village and depending on the elephant show, time lunch or dinner.

Sri Racha Tiger Zoo

Sri Racha Tiger Zoo situated at 336 Mu 6, Tambon Surasak. It is accessible either from Sukhumvit Highway, turning at Sri Racha District and following the route passing Assumption Sri Racha School for around 75 kilometers or one can take State Highway 36 at Kilometer 21, turn left and continue for another 1.5 kilometers. It boast Thailand's largest number of Bengal tigers, bred successfully by the farm itself. Starting five years ago Sri Racha Tiger Zoo became the biggest zoo of its kind in the entire world providing a home for over 200 of this big and powerful animals. Set up in a beautiful natural atmosphere approximately 30 km outside of Pattaya the zoo is undoubted one of the best day attraction in the Eastern Seaboard.

While tigers are the main reason for the majority of the visitors there are many other exciting attractions such as the

  • Scorpion Queen, a young lady with plenty of poisonous scorpions on her clothing,

Million Years Stone Park and Crocodile Farm

Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Each one of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museums is a unique experience, where you will find things so extraordinary, so shocking, you’ll wonder how they could possibly be true. But they are!

" Robert Ripley started as a cartoonist for the New York Globe in 1913 and a few years later, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! the cartoon was born. To gather ideas for the cartoon, Ripley traveled throughout the world and collected exotic stories and exhibits. He also accepted submissions from the public, and he was so popular that he received literally millions and millions of letters during his lifetime. More than 50 years after his death, the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! cartoon is still widely popular; printed daily in 147 papers worldwide, in 38 countries and in 10 different languages! "

 

Wat Yansangwararam.

An impressive temple under the patronage of the Thai Royal Family about 17 km south of Pattaya. It is consisted of many decorative buildings with a large, scenic and tranquil lake and a hill. In addition to the classical Buddhist temples, here you can find the Royal Chinese Temple and Museum including one that looks like a Chinese Imperial Palace. Here you can practice meditation with a number of meditation masters and monks from 6 a.m. in the morning to 18:00 p.m. You can reach the top of the adjacent hill inside the compound with 200 steps where you can enjoy a serene atmosphere and see a large Buddha image carved on the mount of Kao Chee Chan.

 

Bottle Art Museum

The only one museum in the world, with unique specimen of more than 300 amazing miniatures in bottles, exhibited in a large, air-conditioned hall. The art was done exclusively by Mr. Pieter Bij de Leij, a Dutch craftsman, who dedicated about 14 hours a day for more than a decade. These miniatures in the bottles are temples, palaces, church and other renowned monuments. The museum opens every day from 9:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m. and it is at 145.30 on Sukhumvit Highway.

 

Phra Tamnak Hill

A vantagepoint to get the best panoramic view of the curved bay of Pattaya either in the day or at night. Easily reached by Pattaya Hill Road, it is located at the southern tip of the bay about 1.5 kilometres from the end of Pattaya 2 road. Before reaching the top, the road is forked. Turning right, you will get to the vantage point. Turning left, the road will take you to a small Buddhist temple. Outside the temple in the open air, there is a beautiful Buddha statue named Phra Buddha Sukhothai. Over 18 metres tall and over 10 metres across the lap, it is the largest Buddha image of Chon Buri Province. Nearby there is a statue of Admiral Prince Chumphon, the Father of Royal Thai Navy.
