Monsoon Madness Festival - In the early 90's the PBA held major events in Kuantan but following their departure, the Monsoon Madness has taken over the mantle. Competitors come from as far as Canada, Italy and Germany but the event preserves a very local feel.

The east coast of Malaysia, long isolated, is renowned for its laid-back rural charm, a beautiful natural environment and plenty of easy action. Once you move off the water, the pace of life is always relaxed.

The Monsoon Madness takes place on Balok Beach. The event, including registration, lasts for four days. Competitions include light wind slalom, a Formula Course Slalom and a 'master blast' speed dash. Sailors are divided into Open, Master's (40 years old and above) and Ladies categories. There will cash and equipment prizes.

Kuantan's lovely beaches are all ideal for relaxation. Whatever beach fun you are looking for, surfing, sailing, water-skiing, you can find them. For wind-surfing fanatics, the popular spot is on Balok Beach.

While the abundant marine life and colorful coral garden of Tioman Island offshore offer a great opportunity for snorkeling and scuba diving. Golfers can hit the greens at the Tioman Golf Club and get in 18 holes of relaxing golf, surrounded by massive granite boulders, emerald rainforests and cascading waterfalls.

On Chendor Beach, the green turtles and occasionally a giant leatherback will com ashore to lay eggs from early July to September; it is then an exciting experience to see this rare event.

Whatever activities you prefer, just basking and lulling in the sun on these Kuantan beaches can make you holiday in Malay remarkable.

Shopping center in Kuantan offers a tempting array of bewitching items which you may not find elsewhere. The modern Teruntum Complex, Berjaya Megamall and Kuantan Parade offer great shopping in air-conditioned comfort. These malls also house a cinema, bowling, fast-food restaurants and other facilities.

When it comes to eating out outlets, unending variety of delicacies are to be found in the cuisines of Pahang. Malay, Chinese (particularly Cantonese, Hokkien and Szechuan) and both north and south Indian foods will stimulate the taste buds. Fine European cuisine can also be found at both coastal and hill resorts. SATAY, morsels of marinated meat are skewered on palm leaf sticks and barbecued on an open flame and eaten with a spicy peanut sauce, cucumber, onions and ketupat (rice boiled in woven palm leaf cases). Satay is the 'kebab' of the Malay world. A dish you must try!

By virtue of having the widest and the most complete in tourist destinations, Pahang also have accommodations built in every of the destinations, town centers such as Kuantan, beaches such as Cherating, hill resorts such as the Fraser's Hill and the Cameron Highlands, beautiful islands such as the Pulau Tioman.
