Beijing offers the widest choice of goods for shopping than anywhere else in China. Clothes are relatively inexpensive, and the choice of antiques and handicrafts is vast and enticing. Some recommendable souvenirs are art materials like traditional brushes and blocks of ink, jade items, kites and beautifully woven silk.
There are several main shopping districts in Beijing. For example, Xidan which boasts giant department stores, Dongdan whose feature items include brand-name clothes, Wangfujing which is very popular, and Liulichang which is targeted at visitors with its abundance of souvenirs. Jianguomenwai Dajie is also a good spot if it's clothes you're after.

A pletora of Chinese and Western movies are being offered in many luxurious and comfortable movie theaters. The unique feature of Chinese movie theaters is that they do sell alcoholic beverages.
For a night with palatable dinner, a few good drinks and mellow jazz music, head to CD Cafe which is just south of the Agriculture Exhibition Center. Another good place to go for live jazz music with a blend-in of Asian flavor is Sunflower Jazz Cafe in Guanghua Lu.
Shows of Western contemporary, ballet, Chinese traditional and ethnic folk dances can be found in the city if you are interested. The most popular places that offer these shows include the Poly Plaza near the Dongsishitiao subway station and Central Ballet of China in downtown. Classical music buff may head to the Beijing Concert Hall where both Chinese and touring international symphonies give concert frequently.

Night Life |

Beijing offers a neverending night life to those seeking for it. To begin with, most major hotels downtown are usually equipped with quality musical shows, food and drinks.
Singing karaoke has become an increasingly popular branch of entertainment among the Chinese people, and in consequence karaoke bars spring up everywhere throughout Beijing.
Beijing also has some excellent disco and rock 'n roll dance clubs in downtown. Some of the famous places to visit are NASA Disco Club in Xitucheng Lu, JJ Disco Square, Nightman Disco, V-One, and Dance Agogo.
