Chiangmai - Lampoon - Lampang
- Sukhothai & Phisanulok
Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Chiang Mai - Lampoon - Lampang - Sukhothai 07:30 - Depart Chiangmai for Lampoon (Kingdom of Hariphunchai). An ancient Mon kingdom, it was founded in 660 and is the oldest city in the Kingdom. Queen Jamathevee was its first ruler. The remnants of the old fortified city walls and the surrounding moat, constructed in the 16th century, are still evident. Visit Wat Prathat Hariphunchai with its golden pagoda. There are two impressive chedis, the taller of which, Ahtit Dayalat, stands a majestic 51 meters high. There is also an old Lanna style pagoda and a huge call-to-prayer gong. Then proceed to Lampang and ride a horse-drawn carriage. (The ride is optional and can be arranged on request). Explore Wat Prathat Lampang Luang. It's now time for lunch. After that, continue on to Sri Satchanalai, the birth place of high-fired Thai ceramics and an important place in the annals of South East Asian art. Drive further on to visit the first Thai capital Sukhothai. Check in to a hotel. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. Day 2 : Sukhothai - Phisanulok After breakfast, visit the old city of Sukhothai (means "dawn of happiness"). This was the first capital of the Thai kingdom in central Siam in the 12th century. Visit the Historical Park where Thai history is recorded and Ramkamhaeng National Museum. It's now time for lunch. Continue on to Phisanulok to see Wat Phra Sri Mahatat, a famous landmark temple of Khmer style with its Buddha Chinnaraj. Tour around the city. At leisure and relax until departure time.
