TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1 (Tuesday): Bangkok
Get to meet your tour guide as well as the other passengers while being
served a welcome cocktail. Stay overnight at Bangkok Marriott Resort and
Spa or similar.
Day 2 (Wednesday): Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Lopburi (B/L)
Start the day with a morning river cruise on the tastefully restored
wooden rice-barge Manohra. Enjoy your breakfast while the boat trip will
take you slowly out of the bustling city, passing splendid temples and
allowing you an unforgettable insight into rural life along the
riverbanks of the Chao Phraya River. Arrive in Pak Kret where you will
board the Deluxe Coach to continue the journey via Bang Pa In, the site
of the magnificent Summer Palace, to Ayutthaya. Relax in the comfortable
leather seat and enjoy a nice cup of tea of coffee, which will be served
to you on board. In Ayutthaya you will visit the most historic temples
of this former capital of the Siam Kingdom. (The tour will take around
1hour 15minutes). Proceed through Thailand's central plains to Wat Phra
Buddhabat (15 km northeast of Saraburi) where you will get a first
insight into Thailand's Buddhist culture. In the evening arrive in
Lopburi, a small town with an amazing history. Overnight stay is at
Panasiri Resort in Lopburi.
Day 3 (Thursday): Lopburi - Nakhon Sawan - Kampheng Phet - Tak
(B/L)
After breakfast at the resort, visit many temples and historic sites of
the former Thai Lopburi. The focus will be paid to the Narai Raja-Niwet
Palace, which is situated in the town center. Later the trip will
continue to the tributary of Chao Phraya at Nakhon Sawan where four
rivers unite as Chao Phraya River. Further, we take you northwest to
Kampheng Phet, formerly known as an important front line of defense for
the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya Kingdom. The UNESCO has promoted this
ancient city with its wooden houses as an official "World Heritage
Site". Leave Kampheng Phet to the small town, Tak, which is located
at the junction of two former trading routes during the Kingdom of Siam.
Tourism has rarely touched this small province town. Overnight stay is
at Wiang Tak II Hotel.
Day 4 (Friday): Tak - Lampang - Lamphun - Chiang Mai (B/L)
After breakfast at the hotel's restaurant and checkout of the hotel,
drive towards the north and you will notice a gradual change of the
landscape. The northern provinces are known as the most fascinating
regions for their broad lavish valleys as well as their impressive
mountain ranges. The road via Thoen takes us to Lampang where you will
have the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful and most famous
temples in northern Thailand: Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang. The eventful
history of this over 1000-year-old temple can be discovered in many
details. Proceed to Lamphun where you will visit Wat Phrathat
Hariphunchai which is one of the most important Buddhist temples in the
northern Thailand. From here it is a short drive to Chiang Mai, the
Thailand's second biggest city. Check in at the Westin Hotel in Chiang
Mai for overnight accommodation.
Day 5 (Saturday): Chiang Mai (Pearl of the North) (B/L)
After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour in the old and new parts of
Chiang Mai and get to know the diversity of this fascinating city.
Afterwards drive up the steep mountain to visit the famous hilltop
temple complex, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, with a spectacular panoramic
view of Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is well known and famous for its various
Handicraft Centers, which you will be visiting in the afternoon. You can
closely witness the manufacturing of lacquer-ware, hand-painted
umbrellas, wood carving and silk weaving. Yet another highlight is
waiting for you in the evening: Explore the unique night market, one of
the most popular shopping places in Chiang Mai and enjoy the lively
atmosphere.
Day 6 (Sunday): Chiang Mai - Thaton - Golden Triangle (B/L)
Morning meal served at the hotel. Then the journey takes you further up
north passing fields cultivated to the small market place, Mae Rim.
Then, visit Ching Dao Elephant Camp where old as well as young elephants
are kept in their natural environment. As we move towards
Thailand-Myanmar border, the scenery gets more varied and hills become
steeper. Arrive in Thaton, which is located picturesquely on the Mae Kok
River banks. There is a local market that gives an interesting
impression of daily life in north Thailand. The tour continues via Mae
Chan to Chiang Saen. This eventful day will end with a visit of Wat
Chedi Luang. Overnight stay is at Ban Boran Hotel at Golden Triangle.
Day 7 (Monday): Golden Triangle (B/L/D)
Just after breakfast, depart by a minibus to the busy small border town,
Mae Sai, directly located at the Thai border where many Myanmar come to
trade their products. On the way back to the Golden Triangle take a
drive up the mountain to visit Wat Phrathat Chom Kitti. In the afternoon
you can relax during an interesting boat trip along the mighty Mekong
River. Fascinating scenery and full of life will present itself to you
on the river as well as along the riverbanks, which is an experience you
will memorize for a long time. Return to Golden Triangle and back to Ban
Boran Hotel for an overnight stay and the farewell dinner.
Day 8 (Tuesday): Chiang Rai - Bangkok (B)
After breakfast transfer to Chiang Rai Airport and return by Thai
Airways flight in Business Class (approximate flight time is 1.15 hour)
