km)
In the morning, leave Bangkok by van to Samut Songkram. On arrival,
start biking along village roads past tropical fruit orchards, coconut
plantations, temples,
schools, and traditional Thai houses towards
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Here you will experience a traditional
market life style by a paddled boat before you continue biking to a
riverside restaurant for lunch. After lunch take a boat trip (up to 1
hour) along the
Meklong River to experience rural life along the riverside to the King
Rama Park II, a traditional teak house museum in a large tropical park
displaying rare Thai flowers and plants. Continue by van to the Rose
Garden. Check in at the Rose Garden Aprime Resort. Time to relax or you
may choose to explore the neighboring villages by bike. Accommodation is
at Rose Garden Aprime Resort.
Day 2: Nakhon Pathom - Kanchanaburi (B/L/D) (ride 15-20 km)
Breakfast served at the resort. Depart by van for Nakhon Pathom to visit
the world's highest pagoda, Phra Pathom Chedi, as well as the large open
market before continuing to Kanchanaburi. Visit the JEATH Museum and
famous Bridge over the River Kwai and board the local train for the
exciting ride on the Death Railway. After lunch, transfer to your hotel
located on the Kwai River banks. Explore the vicinity by bike - the
famous Khmer style archeological site of Prasat Muang Singh is a short
6-km ride from the resort. You may also choose to take an elephant
riding and bamboo rafting (not included in tour price) or simply relax
in the pool or on the riverside of the resort. Dinner and accommodation
are at Ban Tor Mai Daeng Resort.
Day 3: Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya (B/L) (ride 20-40 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive via Suphanburi to the former capital city
of Siam, Ayutthaya, which is located approximately 80 kilometers to the
north of Bangkok, the ancient city of Ayutthaya is known as the
"Venice of the East", and it lies along the Chao Phraya River,
the tributary of which surrounds Ayutthaya province. The glory of the
Ayutthaya Empire (1350-1767A.D.) is evident in the remains of temples
such as Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and Wat Chai Wattanaram, which we will
visit in the afternoon. A further visit includes Wat Yai Chai Mongkol.
This well-tended temple was founded by King U-Thong in 1357 as a center
for monks returning from study in Sri Lanka. The white reclining Buddha
near the entrance was built by King Naresuan. The massive pagoda was
also built by King Naresuan to celebrate his defeat of the Burmese at
Suphanburi in 1593 by killing their crown prince in a single-handed
combat on elephants. Overnight accommodation is at Krungsri River Hotel.
Day 4: Ayutthaya - Bang Pa In - Bangkok (B) (ride 20-25 km)
Today we offer an optional early-hours tour (06:00 AM) to visit the
morning market to buy fresh food, which you will then donate to the
monks who are making their rounds to receive alms from the local people.
It is the traditional practice for Thai Buddhists which is a meaningful
experience for foreigners. Then return to the hotel for breakfast. A
40-minute boat trip on the Mekong River brings you to Bang Pa In,
followed by a visit of the Royal Summer Palace. Begin riding towards
Bang Bua Thong's agricultural villages before heading across the Chao
Phraya River to Koh Kred for lunch. After lunch, take a short cycling
tour around the island past fruit orchards, Mon villages, open markets
and pottery factories, which Koh Kred is famous for. Return to Bangkok
by van and transfer to your hotel in Bangkok
