Topic: General Information about Hua Hin - Country: Thailand

With a total area of approximately 911 square kilometers, Hua Hin is located about 92 kilometers north of Prachuab Khiri Khan, its provincial chief town and about 185 kilometers south of Bangkok. Hua Hin possesses a tropical climate with a rather high degree of humidity. There are three seasons, the hot season (March-May), the rainy season (June-October) and the cool season (November-February).

Buddhism is the main religion but others including Christianity are also practiced. There are in all 42 temples and religious places in Hua Hin. Some are the town's major attractions such as Khao Takiab, Khao Krilas or Health Resort.

Hua Hin's soil rather dries out easily but Mother Nature is always kind. Pineapples, asparaguses, corns and sugar canes which require much sunlight and less water are widely cultivated. Results can be seen in the markets where these inexpensive and delicious products never seem to be in shortage.

However, Hua Hin is rich in sea resources. Fresh and dry seafood here is reputed to be delicious and affordable. Handmade souvenirs from the sea are also priced decoration and gift items. Besides, Hua Hin's hand printed cotton called Khomapastris unique and suitable for all occasions.

Nightlife in Hua Hin is quite different from other tourist hubs. Some coffee shops and a discothèque are available but the major nightlife attraction which is very popular with both Thai and foreign tourists is the night market. The market represents a genuine Thai style of life, and all can find local food, fruits, drinks, souvenirs or even clothes.

Transport in Hua Hin or to other tourist attractions is not difficult. Hua Hin has trains, airplanes, air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses, local buses and minibuses, motorcycles, bicycles for rent and tricycles as well as horse-drawn carriages for hire.

What should people do here? Hua Hin is for families and for those looking for a true relaxation by the beach, there being no other upbeat activities characteristic of the other resorts. It still retains its serene ambience and is poised to remain just as it is.
