Bangkok City & Temple Tour: Wat Pho, Wat Trimitr, Wat Benchamabophit

Tour itinerary:

08:00 / 12:30 - Pick up at your hotel and drive to the central district of Bangkok

09:00 / 13:30 - First visit Wat Trimitr, renowned for its Golden Buddha with 10 feet high and weighs 5 ton and a half. The image was built with pure gold with the fine art of Sukhothai period around 13th century. It was recorded as the world largest Buddha image made of gold by Guinness World Book of Record.

Continue further with a drive to Rattakosin Island passing through China Town and flower maket. It is amazing to see a bustling, but colorful life style of the locals.

10:00 / 14:30 - Arrive at Wat Pho, well-known for its huge Reclining Buddha, with 46 meter long and 15 meter high. Founded in 1781 by King Rama I of Chakri Dynasty, Wat Pho was the first university of Thailand that taught wide range of knowledge ranging from astrology, literature and medicine. It is also a temple museum that contains many hard-to-be found artifacts and inscriptions.

11:00 / 15:30 - Further on to Wat Benchamabophit, also known as the Marble Temple, famous for the modern work blended with Thai religious architecture. The main chapel was built with white carcra Italian Marble which houses a replica of the most beautiful Buddha image in Thailand, Praputthachinarat.

Wat Trimitr - famous for housing the world largest Golden Buddha image, built with the classic art during Sukhothai period over 700 years ago. Hidden under the plaster exterior for centuries, the Golden Buddha was rediscovered in 1954 when the plaster coat was cracked in an accident and the real gold began to illuminate from under.

Wat Pho - or "the Temple of the Reclining Buddha", a first grade Royal monastery and represent the first open university of Thailand since the reign of Rama III. There are many ancient artifacts, inscription, amazing sculptures and paintings, with nearly a hundred pagodas inside the compound.

Wat Benchamabophiti - (Marble Temple) the main building was constructed during the reign of King Rama V. Its interior is magnificently decorated with cross beams of lacquer and gold this is “the perfect architecture of Thai art”. A large collection of bronze Buddha images lines the spacious inner courtyard.
