Damnoen Saduak

“It is a remarkable man-made canal built by King Rama IV over a hundred years ago and connects the two main rivers in Thailand - Tha Chin and Mae Klong River. In those old days before there was any good road, the canal was a significant transport route among the locals in three districts - Ratchaburi, Samut Somkram and Samut Songkarn. It facilitated transports of goods and travel with ease, thus got its name Damnern- saduak, literally means travel conveniently (damnern = travel; saduak = convenient). Not until 1967 that the floating market of Damnoen Saduak was known to the outside world.
