Tour Itinerary

DAY 1:  ARRIVE VIENTIANE

When you arrive in Vientiane, meet and greet with your local guide who will transfer you the the hotel. After relaxing for some times, take the tour to Buddha Park (or Xieng Khuan). Litterally Xieng Khuan means “Spirit City” . Buddha Park, as its name suggests, is an open-aired garden museum where you can find large collection of Bhudda statues, Hindu gods and many bizarre sculptures of humans, animals and demons, some dating back over 500 years.

Day 2:  VIENTIANE (B)

After your breakfast, start your day to sightseeing around the city which portrays relaxed charm, tree-lined boulevards, interesting temples and colorful markets. You will visit different highlights of the city, including Pha That Luang, a gleaming golden stupa, dating back to 3rd centuries. Pha That Luang had faced destruction and reconstruction during the past centuries and yet is able stand magnificently in the heart of Vientiane. It is behold as a sacred and holy place, and serves as a symbol of national monument in Laos. Continue to visit Ho Pha Keo, the former royal temple, which claimed to once house the Emerald Buddha that was forcibly taken to Bangkok. Nowaday Ho Pha Keo is a museum with beautiful of Buddhist sculpture. Wat Si Saket, located on Lane Xang Avenue just opposite the Presidential Palace, is the most significant temple of Vientiane. Built by King Photisararat in 1551 and reconstructed by King Anouvong in 1818, Wat Sisaket is the oldest temple in Vientiane in its original form and contains many beautiful relics of Buddha images. Onward tour to Patuxai, a monumental arch inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but executed with Lao motifs. At the top of this monument, you can see panoramic view of the city and the surrounding park. In the afternoon where the time is free, at your own leisure for shopping and strolling around the streets or markets. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3:  VIENTIANE DEPARTURE (B)

After breakfast, you are free at leisure until departure. Our guide will pick you up and transfer to the airport for departure.

How to get to Vientiane:

  • By plane: Internationally from/to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh, Siem reap,, Kuaal Lumpur, Kunming, and domestically from Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha, Pakse
  • By Road - 10 hours drive from/to Luang Prabang and 10 hours drive from/to Pakse
  • By Train - Take train to Nong Khai from Bangkok, Thailand and cross the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to the border and drive to the city about 20 minutes.

Fast Fact at Laos

  • The People's Democratic Republic of Lao is located in the centre of Indochina, sharing borders with China to the north, Myanmar to the north-west, Thailand to the west, Cambodia to the south, and Vietnam to the east.
  • Laos enjoys a tropical climate with two distinct seasons - the rainy season from the beginning of May to the end of September and dry season from October through to April.
  • Lao language is the national language. Other languages used are French, English, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese.
  • The Kip is the official currency of Laos.
  • The majority of Lao people are Buddhists.
  • When entering a Wat (Temple) or a private home it is customary to remove one's shoes.
  • In traditional homes one sits on low seats or cushions on the floor. Upon entering guests may be served fruit or tea. These gestures of hospitality should not be refused.
  • The head is considered the most sacred part of the body and the soles of the feet the least, one should not touch a person's head nor use one's foot to point at a person or any object.
  • Men and women rarely show affection in public.
  • Women are forbidden to touch a Buddhist monk.
