How to get Houysai - Chiangkong

Chiangkhong - Houyxai (Heuysai) is a Thai - Laos border crossing point which can be reached through Northern Thailand where Chiangrai is the main gateway.  ChiangRai is about 3-4 hours drive further up from Chiangmai and is easily accessible by daily flights from Bangkok.  Travelers can take a morning flight to Chiangrai and continue onward to Chiangkhong - Houyxai on the same day for the boat trip to Luang Prabang, or overnight in Chiangrai and proceed next morning.
